Our History
Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club was founded in 1907, making it one of the oldest surf life saving clubs in Australia. It emerged during the early movement to legalise daylight bathing and quickly became a major contributor to surf rescue innovation, patrol development, surf sports, and community safety on Sydney’s southern beaches. Over more than 115 years, Cronulla SLSC has grown into a large, modern club with strong patrol traditions, a thriving Nippers program, and a proud record of service to the community.
Our Club patrols Cronulla Beach between September and April. Over the course of each season our members provide more than 13,000 volunteer hours, perform over 100 rescues, deliver more than 200 first-aid cases, undertake over 1,000 preventative actions and care for numerous lost children.

To ensure no lives are lost while on patrol, assist members to achieve their full potential, compete within the principles of ‘Fair Play’ and support the community.
Joining Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club is a great way to spend time at the beach while being part of a welcoming, local community. Members learn valuable surf and lifesaving skills, build confidence in the water, and form friendships that often last well beyond the sand.
Through patrols, training, and youth programs, the club plays an important role in keeping our beach safe and supporting the people who use it every day. It’s a relaxed, inclusive environment where everyone contributes in their own way and shares a genuine connection to the coastline and the community it serves.
