New Bronze Course

A Bronze Medallion Course for members has been scheduled to commence Sunday 6th November, 2016.

The training course will be run on a Sunday and one other week night to be advised.

Candidates need to be current financial members and be able to meet the pre-requisites set out below:

PRE-REQUISITES

Candidates must meet ALL of the following conditions:

  • be at least 15 years of age on the date of final assessment.
  • complete an unaided swim goggles/masks permitted of 400 metre swim in nine minutes or less, in a swimming pool of not less than 25 metres, or over a measured open water course which will be observed prior to the candidate undertaking any water training or assessment activities, evidence of which must be provided to the Assessor on the appropriate form prior to commencement of the assessment for this qualification.

AWARD SUMMARY

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. This is the core award to be a surf lifesaver in Australia.

Candidates will need a copy of the Public Safety and Aquatic Rescue Manual, the current edition can be purchased from the Cronulla Surf Club Office. A pink high visibility vest is also compulsory for training and available for purchase at the Surf Club and wetsuits are allowed for training.
